Kolomyia, first mentioned in the Galicia-Volhynia Chronicle as far back as 1241, experienced many joyful and tragic events throughout its long history. It hosted Polish kings, Moldavian rulers, and later the Austrian emperor and heir to the throne; became the birthplace of Ukrainian theatre in Galicia; contributed to the publication of the first Ukrainian encyclopedia; was renowned for its choirs and orchestras; and attracted visitors with a variety of interesting features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 1997, the Museum of the History of Kolomyia has been located in a late 19th-century building, which is an architectural monument of local significance (registration No. 561). It is situated in the city center of Kolomyia and is therefore accessible to both residents and visitors. A distinctive feature of the building is its unique stained-glass windows, the oldest in Kolomyia, which have miraculously survived to the present day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of the end of 2025, the museum presents the following exhibition sections: \u201cArchaeology\u201d, \u201cThe Activities of Government Institutions during the Austro-Hungarian and Polish State Periods\u201d, \u201cKolomyia and the Habsburgs\u201d, \u201cFrom the History of Theatre Life\u201d, \u201cIndustry and Trade in Kolomyia from the 19th to the First Half of the 20th Century\u201d, \u201cReligious Life from the 19th to the First Half of the 20th Century\u201d, \u201cPublishing and Printing\u201d, \u201cThe Activities of Societies in Kolomyia from the 19th to the Early 20th Century\u201d, and \u201cAlexander Kibler and Other Kolomyia Photographers\u201d.
