Aim of Association 

Promotion of economic and social development of the Ivano-Frankivsk Region and its communities.

Goals of Association

Implementation of effective regional and local economic and social development, promotion of strategic planning, creation of a favourable business environment and improvement of conditions for business activity in local communities, creation of a favourable investment climate, organization  of a constructive dialogue between business, authority and the society, promotion of historical, cultural and natural heritage preservation, participation in the construction of effective civil society. 

Main directions of activity:

• strategic planning, designing of programs and projects of regional and community development;
• promotion of sectors of economy and social development, including the development of small and medium-sized businesses, social entrepreneurship, tourism industry, culture, education, housing and utilities sector;
• facilitating investment activity in the region;
• promotion of scientific projects and innovation and implementation of their results;
• promotion of natural heritage and environment preservation, low-carbon development of economy and energetics, implementation of energy efficient technologies and the use of renewable energy sources, waste management;
• promotion of historical and cultural heritage preservation;
• development and implementation of programs and projects related to European integration, cross-border and regional cooperation;
• taking part in European integration and cross-border cooperation processes;
• scientific and analytical activity, carrying out economic, marketing and sociological researches;
• informational, instructive, scientific and educational non-profit activity;
• preparation of projects of normative legislative acts of national and local level and carrying out campaigns in their support;
• consultation and resource support of organs of executive government, local self-government and business entities;
• educational, cultural work with children and youth, promotion of youth movement, employment and youth entrepreneurship;
• development of partnership between institutions of civil society, authority, and business;
• establishing international cooperation with organizations and communities of other countries;
• supporting the development and promotion of the region’s positive image, supporting the dissemination of information about the Ivano-Frankivsk Region and its territorial communities.

Work experience

The Association launched its activities in 1997. It supports close links and constantly cooperates with over 30 active NGOs that represent Ivano-Frankivsk, 8 districts of the Region, other Ukrainian regions, as well as Canada, Poland, and Slovakia, Ivano-Frankivsk City Executive Board, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, local mass media, Ivano-Frankivsk-based universities, international technical assistance projects. AEDIF employees went on study tours and training programs abroad, including such countries as Canada, the USA, Poland, Lithuania, and Slovakia. The Association is an active member of regional, national, and international NGO networks, including the National Association of Regional Development Agencies and CEE Citizen Network. Up to now the Association has successfully implemented 59 projects in regional and community economic and social development. AEDIF has developed 8 Strategic development plans of regions and cities of the Ivano-Frankivsk Region, Strategy of tourism development and marketing of the Ivano-Frankivsk Region, Strategy of Carpathian village development. 22 analytical and sociological researches have been carried out in the sphere of quality assessment of government, housing and utilities services, assessment of investment potential of the Region, identification of problems and development perspectives of the Region and its territorial communities, the study of problems and perspectives of investment activity, environment, tourism industry, excursion tourism, cultural and educational tourism, and museums of the Region. The Association has developed and implemented recommendations regarding the improvement of regional policy in the sphere of government services, improvement of investment climate in the Region, the development of tourism, culture, environment protection, international transport corridors. AEDIF has developed 48 educational modules; organized and carried out 142 educational seminars with 2556 participants; 41 conferences including 16 international conferences; organized and conducted 38 round tables and focus-groups in the framework of AEDIF projects; organized and conducted 8 study visits with government and local self-government, business and NGO representatives of the Region to Romania, Moldova and Poland. The Association has published and disseminated 52 publications in the sphere of regional and local economic and social development.
