The “Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary” in Călineşti-Căeni, having an archaic architectural style, is currently a historical monument, inscribed in the National Heritage List. This church is small, originally built of oak wood, covered with shingles. According to some documents, it seems that it had the role of a monastery church, dating back to 1390, but some research shows that this church was built in the years 1628-1630. The church painting was made by the painter Alexandru the Painter Ponehalschi, in 1754.
