Complex of buildings of the Potocki Palace with gates

An architectural and urban planning monument of historical significance in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. The palace complex was built in 1672-1682 and was further completed in the 1980s.

It was built by the Polish Crown Hetman Andrzej Potocki for himself and his family. The complex of buildings of the Potocki Palace was formed over a long period of time. Due to the functional interconnection and planning unity of its architectural objects, it is an urban architectural ensemble characterized by the enclosed nature of a separate architectural organism from the early stage of Classicism.

The Austrians housed a military hospital in the former palace. Later, the palace complex did not change its purpose. It continued to house a hospital, which operated there for two centuries and was among the oldest in Ukraine.

The main task of restoring the historical buildings and structures of the Potocki Palace complex, created in different periods and recognized as cultural heritage sites, is to preserve their material volumetric and spatial structure, form, historically inherited appearance, and the traditional character of the environment. This allows the entire complex to be viewed as historical evidence of previous eras and of the architectural and urban development of the city of Stanislaviv.

In the restored palace buildings, the interactive museum “City and Weapons” and a Congress Center have been opened.

The restoration process is ongoing. Restoration and adaptation projects are being carried out in stages for each building. These projects include a set of research, design, survey, and construction works aimed at creating conditions for modern use without changing the inherent characteristics of the buildings.

Various events are held weekly at the Palace, ranging from book presentations to open-air concerts.
