Spend an interesting week-long trip?! A fun and exciting weekend for adults and children? The Carpathian Cultural Cross-Border Tourist Route includes unique tourist destinations that will attract your attention. The route is designed in such a way that you can explore the cultural heritage while visiting crafts, folk artists, festivals, workshops and generally interesting leisure time surrounded by the picturesque and majestic Carpathian nature. This is an individual family or group tour, but equally impressive – everything is at your discretion and desire. The whole tour or certain parts of it can be travelled by car, railway, tourist bus or individually on a bicycle or motorcycle.

The hidden Carpathian pearl of Romania is Maramoroshchyna, and from the Romanian border to the border with Lviv and Ternopil regions, the Solotvyno resort, a real ecological phenomenon and the extremely powerful natural resource potential of Rakhiv district, recreational Polianytsia, Vorokhta and Yaremche, the mysterious Molfar Verkhovyna, world-famous Kosiv ceramics, unique Easter eggs, bright historical Ivano-Frankivsk, princely Halych and legendary Opillya. All this is the Carpathian Cultural Route.

Opillya Museum with Ukrainian, Polish, Jewish and Turkish exhibitions. A complex of historical and cultural monuments of Davniy Halychand the Galicia-Volyn state – the Davniy Halych National Reserve with the Church of St Panteleimon, which dates back to the end of the twelfth century, as well as a skansen and other museums and architectural monuments. The mineralogical collection of the Geological Museum of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas is included in the State Register of Scientific Objects of National Heritage. Potocki Palace Complex, Bastion Fortress Gallery, Ivano-Frankivsk Museum of Local Lore, Museum of Arts of Prykarpattia in Ivano-Frankivsk. The Kolomyia Museum of Folk Art of the Hutsul and Pokuttia Region named after Josaphat Kobrynskyi is listed in the Encyclopaedia Britannica as a “museum of world masterpieces” and has a high rating from TripAdvisor, and in 2022 the National Museum joined the Council of Europe’s European Ceramics Route as a partner. The Kosiv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts is the only art school in Ukraine with a 140-year history that transmits rich folk traditions. The Verkhovyna Museum of Hutsulshchyna, Petro Shekerik-Donikiv and the Roman Kumlyk Museum of Ethnography, Life and Musical Instruments in Verkhovyna. It is a town of viaducts, a sports and tourist centre and the gateway to Hoverla-Vorokhta. The Miniature Park in Yaremche and the Hutsul Land Ethno Park in the Bukovel ski and SPA resort. The first and only Museum of History and Ethnography of Romanians in Zakarpattia. 

The Maramures Museum in Sighetu Marmatiei, which functions as a museum complex with an ethnic dominance, as well as departments of history-archaeology, cultural history and memorials, natural sciences, and an art gallery. The Memorial to the Victims of Communism and Resistance and the Memorial House of Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize winner, will introduce the crimes against humanity of communism and fascism. The unique Merry Cemetery in Săpânţa and the Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art of Baia Mare County. In addition to the Mint, the Maramures County Museum of History and Archaeology also houses an important historical monument that was part of the fortification system of the medieval city of Baia Mare, the Butchers’ Bastion. The Citadel Square and Stefan’s Tower, which is a heritage site listed as a national treasure, are part of the old fortification system of Baia Mare. The four collections of the Museum of Mineralogy in Baia Mare, namely the minerals, fossils, rocks and ore collections, include more than 20,800 exhibits. Art lovers are invited to visit the Artistic Centre and  Painters’ Colony of  Baia Mare to see works of Romanian contemporary art and works that reconstruct the path of European art over two centuries  from the 18th century to the 20th century. The Rural Culture and Architecture Ensemble of Breb, where local folklore says that the richer the gate is in decorations, the richer the family, and the Mocăniţa Forest Railway.

We also offer you to visit 11 UNESCO World Heritage sites: Nine cultural heritage sites (Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in Rohatyn, Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Nyzhnyi Verbizh, Church of the Ascension in Yasinia, Wooden Church of the Holy Pious Paraskeva in Deseşti, Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Rogoz, Church of the Holy Archangels in Şurdești, Church of St Nicholas in Budești Josani, Bârsana Monastery Complex, Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Ieud Deal) and one each of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (Kosiv painted ceramics) and World Natural Heritage (beech virgin forests in the Museum of Mountain Ecology and History of Nature Management in the Ukrainian Carpathians in Rakhiv).
